DID YOU KNOW PARKING IS FREE AT MISSION BAY, THE PROMENADE?

The Promenade has 2 customer carparks offering 86 parking spaces, located off Patteson Ave on the left and right hand sides.

Simply purchase your ticket from the Pay and Display machine, display the upper portion on your dash and take the lower portion with you.

Present the bottom part of the docket when paying and the Promenade operator will deduct the amount from your bill.

It's that easy! All Promenade operators are fully versed in the reimbursement procedure so feel free to ask if you have any questions.

The short trip from central Auckland to Mission Bay is not only picturesque, but dotted with some of Auckland's other favourite attractions.

The Auckland Museum contains fascinating memories of Auckland's and New Zealand's past.

A little further on, you'll find the Parnell Rose Gardens, Okahu Bay with Ngati Whatua Iwi's (Maori tribe) waka Mahuhu (war canoe), and the world-famous KellyTarltons Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World.

Built to commemorate Michael Joseph Savage, one of New Zealand's most revered leaders, the Savage Memorial stands proudly atop Bastion Point at the western end of Mission Bay. The views of the Hauraki Gulf are breathtaking!

Drive or Ride... you choose!!

  • Drive: 15 minutes is all it takes by car. Drive downtown to Quay St, turn right and follow the glorious Tamaki Drive along the coast!
  • Taxi: Probably the best $25 you'll ever spend, as you sit back and take in the sights all the way!
  • Bus: Catch the regular service from the Britomart Transport Centre, lower Queen St, Downtown Auckland (route746-769 or see http://www.maxx.co.nz), or take the Auckland Explorer Bus (http://www.explorerbus.co.nz.)
  • On Foot: The walk from the city on the wide, flat promenade that follows the seashore takes around 45 minutes, or you can jog, cycle or rollerblade in less.
